Meet the Artist

Kess Aleksandrova is the artist behind Floret Fine Art, a Christchurch-based creative studio grounded in a love of nature, craft, and timeless design. A registered landscape architect and lifelong artist, Kess draws on both disciplines to create works that celebrate the quiet, poetic beauty of the world around us.

Her early childhood in the Russian countryside—surrounded by dense forests, wildflower fields, and her family’s small orchard—sparked a deep reverence for the natural world that continues to shape her work today. Influenced by the pastoral movement and the sensibilities of slow living, her art reflects an appreciation for the creative process and the beauty of nature.

Working in a variety of mediums, Kess moves fluidly between gestural mark-making and refined detail, creating pieces that feel both grounded and ethereal. Her paintings and drawings are designed not only to complement beautiful interiors, but to bring a sense of calm and connection into the spaces they inhabit.

Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Kess creates most of her work from a sunlit corner of her home studio while raising her baby daughter. Outside the studio, she finds joy in horse riding, yoga, and giving old furniture new life - pastimes that echo the same values of care, patience, and appreciation that inform her art.
